COMINGS, GOINGS

Indigo Moon in Atlantic Highlands has closed. Too bad. I was just there last month and had some lovely food.

Vivas, with chef Wil Vivas, has opened semi-quietly in Belmar Plaza, Belmar. The menu features "Classic Latin Cuisine.''

Everywhere, suddenly: cowboy steak. Are you riding' this one high, or bucking a bronco?

Far too few places: side dishes specifically suited, specifically crafted for the main element on the plate. Can there really be one-size-fits-all sides?

Questions for the informed: Where's Richard from Far East Taste, Eatontown? Is chef Fredric Byarm back at Antoinetta's in Cedar Run? Where are Adam and Janet Scott (of Indigo Moon) now?

cheers,
Andy

I think Richard sold it and left.
That's what I'd heard.
But I'm not sure.

So Adios to Ole and hello Vivas - it would be interesting to see if people go to his new place.

As far as restaurants would love to see you dissect:

Salt Water Beach Cafe in AP

Knife and Fork steakhouse in AC

For Saturday mini bites entries in APP, Uncle Will's Pancake House in Beach Haven **esp bc it is open yr round for breakfast

We made the long trip to Antoinetta (we're from Elberon, avid restaurant-goer DINKS) only to learn the chef was not on the premises and this was a Saturday night. When asked, the staff did not know where he was and if he would be back from illness leave. The food was not worth the trip.

We will try Vivas as Bistro Ole has been horrible for the better part of this year. No chef in sight either. This makes a difference, the chef being visible and active in the restaurant. Who wants to go to Bobby Flay Steak in AC when he's on TV or in NYC and not there ever?

Salt Water Cafe is not worth Andrea's time. This is no more than tourist food in a drab atmosphere, except for the view. Good food still is necessary, no matter what the tourists think.

Andrea, we enjoy your ethnic "finds" and appreciate learning about new dishes by following your tips.

You missed my wording, I wanted her to "dissect" Salt Water Beach Cafe, not approve of it, just as she did a marvelous job of vivisecting Sirena (those scoundrels from Scalini should be ashamed of themselves).

Bistro Ole does not have chefs in the kitchen anymore, just hacks who are not well trained and don't care. Like its neighbor Moonstruck it is resting on laurels. No new items ever on the menus just the old stuff without any thought to the season and weather. Market in the Middle is the most inconsistent annoying restaurant ever and I think Andrea should go back and tell it like it is really. Her review was way too nice no matter what some of those politicos with nothing but making money on their minds said about her. Andrea has always given that dizzy owner a break and been too kind to all those restaurants she starts up then leaves when she doesn't feel like working anymore. Same thing with Tonie, very inconsistant and now back again at Old Mill. She was good at Farmingdale House but no place else.

Andrea, don't let them get to you. TELL IT LIKE IT IS since most of us don't have $200-plus dollars to waste on a bad meal.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for ripping TRINITY a new one today...

Maybe if the people wake up and realize that even if it's not the same Merla that's corrupt - you cannot rest on your laurels.

I concur about all prior poster said except for MinM - if you don't like it there, dont go.

BrickWall has better overall food at cheaper prices, tapas at MinM are good but food at Labrador Lounge is better!

my daughters worked at Indigo Moon. Adam is now working at Beacon Hill CC and Janet is looking to do some private catering of sorts. So sad--they are really talented

Sad, agreed. At least the old Indigo space is too small for an Olive Garden.

re: trinity poster. its funny how simple minded some people are. just because someone has a relation that did some awful things, does that person become accountable for those actions ? are oj simpsons kids guilty as well ? Does tito have to pay for michael and latoya ? did this paticular person do something to you ? not to mention, all of the staff, are they guilty as well ? i guess ignorance is truly bliss........

my husband and I had a delicious meal at Viva's about 2 weeks ago.I have 2 complaints. They don't take reservations, which makes it stressful to go there with friends for dinner on a Saturday night.Who wants to wait for hours? Therefore we won't take friends to this or any of the many other restaurants that are too lazy to get organized to take reservations. My other complaint is that the tables for 2 are too close.I felt like the people next to me were breathing on my food.

No reservations at Vivas?
Then no go for us.

It will be popular and crowded early than people will get tired of waiting and not go. I predict. Thank you to the poster who made that no-reservation comment so we won't waste our time.

Just had dinner at Belford Bistro. Chef Kurt Bromberg assisted by wife(?), courteous, well trained waiter John, made for a memorable Friday evening. Short menu, good pricing, nice ambience. BYOB. Just what lackluster Belford needs. Desserts from the Flaky Tart, real whipped cream, full house at 6:30. Try it.
