SUMMER'S EATING BEST

Before it's over, before we declare Summer 2007 a vintage … or decide that it really isn't … can you please re-cap your eating favorites of this season almost past?

Here are the 10 categories:

Favorite dish.
Favorite new restaurant.
Favorite place for a drink.
Favorite place for a spot of something sweet.
Favorite far-from-the-madding-crowd spot.
Favorite farmstand.
Favorite summer vegetable.
Favorite new recipe.
Favorite new wine/beer/spirit/drink.
Favorite guilty eating pleasure.

You can pick one category … or you can make selections for all 10. The idea is this: You will make and define the food trends of Summer 2007.

Cheers,
Andy

D.O. is to be avoided on Sundays until 545pm.

Otherwise, it's a sociologist's dream come true. Peoplewatching the mix of humanity that crawls through for pies at Thanksgiving or the kids at the checkout - but watching the StatenIslandahz drive like maniacs in the pahking laht, blahking the aislez with thaih cahts, tawkin awl loud and swaih-ing with every otha woid is "f"...ugh, go to Coco Pari or somewhaih otha than my D.O.

**Can they do a "Monmouth County native" only Express line, please?

8 more days until we get our sanity back.

On behalf of current and former "Staten Islandahz", may I suggest you avail yourself of the "Aloof, Small-Minded, Monmouth County Jerk-Off" line.

Two things:
- Piccolo Italia's (@ West Park Avenue, Ocean) killer Wagyu Beef Burger. The richest, most succulent, and extreme value burger you'll ever have at less than $16! Give me your baddest Cali Cab and it will be tamed! And it IS huge!
- Cask 591's (Broadway, Long Branch) Duck Confit Wrap. I just love duck confit, what else can I say?

Dish - Watermelon & Tomato Salad. I had this on vacation this summer at a restaurant in North Carolina, and put it on my menu as soon as I returned from vacation! Dice up some tomato & watermelon, amounts are entirely up to you, I do equal parts. Add some thinly sliced red onion, and season with kosher salt. Top it with a simple dressing of red wine vinegar & olive oil. Toss it all together and let place in the fridge for a couple of hours. Serve well chilled!

Worst Restaurant (ok food), Service is the worst and the gum chewing teenagers at the desk who have an attitude problem BUT the worst is the owner Gina. I think Sirena is going to see a big decline in customers as more and more people are getting disgusted.
